Post-RWA® National Conference Tips
Author: Kathy Richards (Kate Lyon)
Original Publication Date in Love Notes: September 2005

Although I'm not a newbie, even conference veterans learn something new at each conference. Here's what I learned this year:

1. WEAR COMFORTABLE SHOES. (So what if they don't 'go' with the outfit? Limping or schlepping around barefoot looks better?)

2. Bring emergency supply of feminine products (and band-aids for blisters from uncomfortable shoes).

3. Make a list of people to contact, then contact all of them.

4. Bring my own pillow.

5. VOLUNTEER!!

6. Make airline reservations earlier.

7. Avoid reporters. (Newsletter editors not included.)

8. SMILE! (Everybody will want to know what you've been doing, what workshop you just came from, who you've been talking to, and no one will notice that you're schlepping around barefoot.)
